An individual named Amesh Ruwantha Vidanagamage who threatened and obstructed the duties of two traffic police officers at Delkanda Junction in Nugegoda had surrendered to the Mirihana Police yesterday (08).
The suspect is a dancer who also works as a hairdresser at a salon operated together with his wife at Navinna Junction, Maharagama.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect, who is a resident of Lunuvilawatte in Galle, is temporarily residing at Nallawatta Road in Maharagama.
The suspect obstructed the police officers of the traffic division by lashing out at them.
The officers have informed their higher officials in this regard.
Accordingly, the police launched an extensive operation to arrest the suspect but they were not able to arrest him until he surrendered to the Mirihana Police.
However, the police have inspected the house where he was temporarily staying, the salon and the house in Galle as well to arrest him.
After finding his mobile number, the police were able to locate him in Anuradhapura.
Accordingly, an operation has been launched to arrest him in Anuradhapura.
It has been revealed that he had gone to Anuradhapura to take part in a dancing performance and had left for Colombo at that time.
He had returned to Colombo on Wednesday night (07) and surrendered to the police yesterday (08) crying and asking for forgiveness from the police officers.
Dinamina newspaper reported that he had cried in front of the police officers and said that he had a conflict with his wife prior to engaging with the police.
He had lashed out at the police officers due to high emotions experienced during the fight with his wife.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced in the Nugegoda Court today (09).
