Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (03) ordered that the video titled ‘Bandumkaraya 2’ posted by social media activist Darshana Handungoda on the YouTube channel ‘SL Deshaya’ be forwarded to the Government Analyst for further investigation.
The order was made in relation to a case being heard in the court regarding the accusation that defamatory remarks have been made against Additional Solicitor General Vikum de Abrew and State Counsel Niomi Malka Kahawita based on a false statement in the video.
The Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to hand over the laptop and its accessories that recorded the video to the Government Analyst.
He made this order after considering a motion filed by the CID.
