It is reported that the journalists had been inconvenienced after Minister Harin Fernando had not turned up for the media briefing at the Presidential Media Centre (PMC) yesterday (Nov.07).
Mr. Fernando, who is the Minister of Tourism, Lands as well as Sports and Youth Affairs, was scheduled to address the press briefing held at the PMC at 2.00pm yesterday.
Although the media had arrived to cover the press, the minister had not turned up, resulting in the media being left to wait over 1.5 hours.
It is reported that although the PMC (which facilitates press briefings for the government), had invited him for 04 media briefings so far in total, he had turned up for just one.
This is in a backdrop where MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage (who is in charge of organizing these media briefings), the PMD staff and the Prime minister had repeatedly urged the minister to attend these media briefings.
Some media also state that Minister Fernando is barely contactable, even via on phone.
