The Department of Meteorology states that showers or thundershowers can be expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, North-Western, and Uva provinces after around 2:00 p.m. today (March 18).
The department further mentions that heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces.
A few showers may also occur in the Eastern Province and in the Polonnaruwa District.
The Department of Meteorology also notes that misty conditions can be expected during the morning hours in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
The public is requested to take necessary precautions to minimize risks from temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thunder-showers.
