The Department of Meteorology states that scattered showers or thunderstorms may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces after 2:00 PM today (March 25).
According to the department, some areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces could experience fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm.
Several spells of showers are also expected in the Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa district.
The Department of Meteorology further noted that misty conditions may prevail in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts during the morning hours.
The public is kindly urged to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
