The final report of the case against 15 women including former Parliamentarian Hirunika Preamachandra regarding the alleged incident of obstructing the duty of Police officers by holding a protest, was handed over by the Cinnamon Gardens Police to Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (10 June).

The Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the Court that they have submitted the file of the extract regarding the incident to the Attorney General, while presenting the brief report of the testimony of eight witnesses in relation to this incident.

Accordingly, the Police requested the Court to adjourn the case until the Attorney General informs the next legal steps to be taken regarding the incident.

When this case was called before the Court yesterday, 15 suspects including Hirunika Premachandra, appeared before the Court.

On November 16, 2022, the Cinnamon Gardens Police had reported the facts to the Court stating that the 15 suspects, including Hirunika Premachandra, staged a demonstration in front of the Police using T-shirts similar to the camouflage uniforms of Army officers and the badges and caps worn by Police officers.
