The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the hospitals and health institutions across the country owe nearly Rs.3,000 million in electricity bills to the CEB.
Its General Manager Rohan Seneviratne said that it has been informed to settle the arrears directly to the CEB through the Ministry of Health.
The outstanding amount to be paid by the Colombo National Hospital is close to Rs.339 million for about 5 months of power supply.
The CEB officials have visited the National Hospital and informed the authorities to pay the arrears.
However, the CEB General Manager said that there will be no power cut in any hospital where the bills have not been paid.
