The Western Province (North) Crime Division seized 1 kilo and 116 grams of ‘ice’ drug worth over Rs.10 million hidden in a van parked at the vehicle yard of Fintrex Finance Limited.

On July 10 last year, the police Special Task Force (STF) officers seized this van and arrested a suspect along with 4 kilos and 329 grams of ice in the Wattala area.

Once the court proceedings were concluded, the vehicle was released to the leasing company which had parked the van in its vehicle yard located in Bollegala, Kelaniya.

Chief Inspector K.S.Dolamulla has received a tipoff from an informant that more drugs were hidden in the vehicle.

Accordingly, the police officers who obtained permission from the company found these drugs hidden in the buffer of the vehicle.

The police said that the suspect, a resident of Mannar, who was in the van when it was seized in July, is still in prison.
