The Customs import duty on milk powder has been re-imposed with effect from yesterday (12).
Accordingly, a duty of Rs.100 will be charged for one kilo of imported milk powder.
Earlier, the Finance Ministry imposed a Customs import duty of 20% or Rs.225/- on one kilogram of milk powder but this duty was withdrawn later.
However, it was reported that a duty of Rs.100 has been re-imposed with effect from yesterday until further notice.
Meanwhile, the Milk Powder Importers Association said that no change is expected in the price of milk powder despite the re-imposed duty.
