Increased fuel quotas to remain unchanged

The fuel quotas which were increased in view of the festive season,  will remain unchanged until further notice, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says.

Fuel quotas were revised on 04 April in view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, with the quota for three-wheelers being increased from 5 litres to 8 litres, motorcycles from 4 litres to 7 litres, buses from 40 litres to 60 litres, cars from 20 litres to 30 litres, land vehicles from 15 litres to 25 litres, lorries from 50 litres to 75 litres, quadric cycles from 4 litres to 6 litres, special purpose vehicles from 20 litres to 30 litres and vans from 20 litres to 30 litres.
The decision was taken at a Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) progress review meeting on April 24, during which fuel quotas, distribution, the fuel cargo import plant and the National Fuel Pass QR system were discussed.

No change in domestic LP gas prices this month

Sri Lanka’s 02 main domestic gas suppliers, Litro Gas and Laugfs Gas, have confirmed that there will be no price revision for domestic LP gas cylinders this month.

Both companies stated that gas cylinders will continue to be sold at existing prices.

NWSDB’s SMS portal hacked?

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board’s (NWSDB) SMS portal has reportedly been compromised.

Several users on social media have confirmed receiving messages from the official NWSDB SMS, stating: *“Your Waterboard account has been hacked by Alpha Team… Your data can recover if we got 1.5 BTC.”

The message also included a Bitcoin wallet address for the ransom payment raising concerns.

It remains unclear as to what specific data has been accessed or leaked. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement in this regard

Shooting attempt in Panadura, fail

A shooting attempt was foiled this morning (June 02) in the Gemunu Mawatha area of Walana, Panadura, around 8.00 am.

02 unidentified individuals on a motorcycle attempted to shoot a person, but the firearm failed to discharge, police say.
