A 12-member Indian delegation is set to arrive in Sri Lanka today (28) for discussions aimed at resolving India–Sri Lanka fisheries issues and enhancing fisheries cooperation, sources confirm.
The official talks will commence tomorrow (29) at the Mahaweli Ministry auditorium in Colombo, with key representatives from Sri Lanka’s Fisheries Ministry, including Secretary Nishantha Wickramasinghe, Additional Secretary Dhammika Ranatunga, and Director General Susantha Kahawatta. Officials from NARA, the Coast Guard, the Foreign Ministry, Attorney General’s Department, Navy, and Police will also participate.
The agenda includes addressing the Indo–Sri Lanka fishing conflict through diplomatic channels and controlling the damaging practice of bottom trawling, along with discussions on advancing fisheries development initiatives between the two nations.
