Indian PM to visit Sri Lanka from April 04 – 06

Indian Prime Minister – Narendra Modi is to undertake a state visit to Sri Lanka from April 04 – 06, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announces.

PM Modi is visiting at the invitation of the Sri Lankan President – Mr. Anura Kumara Disanayaka. His last visit to the neighbouring island nation was in 2019.

During the visit, the Indian PM will hold discussions with the Sri Lankan President to review progress made on the areas of cooperation agreed upon in the Joint Vision for “Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future” adopted during the Sri Lankan President’s State Visit to India, the MEA says. PM Modi is also set to meet with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and several senior dignitaries and political leaders.

As part of the visit, he will also travel to Anuradhapura for inauguration of development projects implemented with Indian financial assistance, the MEA further notes.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Sri Lanka, a number of Memoranda of Understanding inked between the two countries are also expected to be exchanged during this visit.

The MFA statement adds that the Indian PM will be accompanied by the Minister of External Affairs, the National Security Advisor, Foreign Secretary and other senior officials of the Government of India.
