A fisherman who suffered burns due to a petrol bomb attack by an Indonesian multi-day fishing vessel was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital last night (12) after being brought to the Galle Port by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The victim is a 33-year-old resident of Trincomalee.

On June 22, a group of fishermen including the injured man had departed from the Negombo Port on the multi-day fishing vessel ‘Sachintha Putha.’

An Indonesian multi-day vessel had attacked them with a petrol bomb while they were fishing in the Southern Sea.

The wounded fisherman was handed over to a ship that was travelling in the country’s territorial waters and later was handed over to the Navy.
