Police have reportedly stated that underworld figure Kanjipani Imran is allegedly plotting to assassinate suspended IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon.
The Athurugiriya Police OIC and the ASP reportedly visited his residence on yesterday (April 30) to inform him about the threat.
Reports state that following Deshabandu’s recent arrest and remand, his security detail has been withdrawn completely and has not been reinstated even after being released on bail.
According to reports, the Acting IGP has formally informed junior officers regarding this development.
