Karu denies involvement in uniting SJB & UNP, reaffirms NMSJ commitment

Published

on

Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has firmly denied any involvement in efforts to unite the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP).

Jayasuriya has stated that he will not get involved in power politics, reiterating his exclusive commitment to the National Movement for Social Justice (NMSJ) and its mission to foster a fair and progressive Sri Lankan society.

In a statement issued by NMSJ General Secretary Sunil Jayasekara, Jayasuriya has clarified his position following media reports suggesting an initiative by a group of Parliamentarians to enlist his support in unifying the SJB and UNP.

Dismissing these claims, Jayasuriya emphasised that he has no intention of becoming a participant or supporter of any political camp. “My dedication lies solely in advancing the public good and societal well-being. As a citizen who loves and respects my country, I will continue to dedicate my life to these causes,” he stated.
