Former deputy minister – Karu Paranawithana, is tipped to replace SJB’s Thalatha Athukorala, reports say.
He stands next in the SJB list from the Ratnapura District.
Paranawithana is presently a politburo member of Patali Champika Ranawaka’s URF.
The MP seat fell vacant after Athukorala announced her decision to resign from parliament earlier today (Aug. 21).
