The Basnayake Nilame of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya, Dishan Gunasekara, has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (March 10).
This summons is in connection with an ongoing investigation based on a complaint filed by social activist Kaamantha Jayamuni, concerning an alleged financial fraud involving the issuing of receipts for donations made by devotees to the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya.
Accordingly, the Basnayake Nilame has been instructed to report to the 02nd floor of the CID headquarters at 9:00 a.m. this morning.
Commenting to the media, Mr. Dishan Gunasekara stated that he has faced various inconveniences related to the construction of a children’s ward complex at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, a project undertaken using funds from the Kataragama Devalaya.
