Keheliya seeks bail from Colombo high court

Published

on

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, currently in remand custody over the substandard human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) procurement case, has filed a bail application to the Colombo High Court.

This follows the rejection of bail for Rambukwella and six other accused by the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.

In his bail application submitted through his legal representatives, Rambukwella contends that the decision of the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court to deny him bail is unjust.

He has requested the High Court to grant him bail, subject to any conditions it deems appropriate.

The Maligakanda Magistrate, Lochani Abeywickrama, had dismissed the bail pleas of the accused and remanded them under the provisions of the Public Property Act.

The case has been scheduled for further proceedings on 28 March.
