The sluice gates of the Kukule Ganga reservoir have suddenly opened due to a technical fault, Director of Hydrology and Disaster Management Division of the Irrigation Department, Engineer S.P.C. Sugeeshwara said.
Accordingly, he said a large current of about 500 cubic meters per second is flowing down.
He further said that flash floods may occur in Bulathsinhala, Ayagama and Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions near the Kuda Ganga.
Mr.Sugeeshwara said that this risk will remain for the next six hours.
