The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has received a complaint that a large number of students have been denied their right to vote on Sep. 21 at the 2022 Presidential Election.
The complaint has been made by the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL).

According to the HRCSL, the complaint points out that a group of undergraduates at Jaffna, Ruhuna and Kelaniya universities, hailing from faraway regions, face this issue as university lectures have been scheduled for Sep. 20 as well.

HRCSL Commissioner General – Nimal Punchihewa has said that the issue will be taken up with the Chancellors of the respective universities to seek a solution.
