Due to a significant number of Government holidays falling on weekdays in 2025, the annual number of school attendance days has decreased to 181, Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa said yesterday (29).
He also mentioned that in the previous year, the number of school attendance days was 210, and there can be slight variations in this number in different years.
“Out of the 26 Government holidays for 2025, only four fall on weekends, while the rest are on weekdays”, he added.
The Ordinary Level Examination will be held in March next year, which falls in the middle of the first term. According to Kaluwewa, the first term for 2025 will commence on January 27.
