The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has announced plans to introduce a life insurance scheme for workers in the ‘Kithul’ (Caryota urens), Coconut, and Palmyrah industries in Sri Lanka.
The board plans to offer an Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance policy, which can be renewed annually.
Under this scheme, workers will receive insurance coverage of Rs. 500,000, Rs. 1,000,000, or Rs. 2,000,000 in the event of death or / and total permanent disability. The insurance will also cover when being hospitalized due to an accident.
