The Computer Crimes Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court yesterday (16) that an investigation has been launched into a case of obtaining personal sexual information of female lecturers and undergraduates online.
The court ordered Google LLC to give a detailed report regarding the information obtained in this manner.
The CID informed Colombo Additional Magistrate T. N. L. Ilangasinghe that the investigation was initiated based on a complaint made by a lecturer at the Kelaniya University.
The complaint had been made stating that a Google form was being shared seeking extremely private sexual information using fake documents under the guise of obtaining information about women’s sexual behavior and attitudes.
The CID officials informed that a large number of university students and lecturers have given their sensitive information to the Google form and added that the CID would obatin information from Google and investigate the matter further.
The Magistrate ordered the CID to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and report the matter to the court.
