The Acting Manager of Mahaweli Authority’s Nochchiyagama Unit has been arrested on charges of soliciting a bribe.
The officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested the suspect yesterday (20) based on a complaint made by a resident in the Nochchiyagama area.
In order to prepare a license of a land belonging to the deceased father of the complainant under his name, the suspect has asked for a bribe of Rs.75,000.
The arrested suspect is to be produced in the Nochchiyagama Magistrate’s Court.
