Former President Maithripala Sirisena, has departed from the CID after giving a statement.
He was summoned to the CID to be questioned about an alleged statement he made in Kandy regarding the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Meanwhile, the ‘Aruna’ newspaper reports that the SLFP’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs – Sajin de Vass Gunawardena has met with the US ambassador in Sri Lanka – Julie Chung today, while Mr. Sirisena was still at the CID.
They had met over lunch at a restaurant in Colombo 07 for a secret discussion, it adds.
The newspaper further says that the ambassador had initially left the restaurant and Mr. Gunawardena had left with his family 10 minutes afterwards.
