Former President Maithripala Sirisena states that he has not decided to back any particular presidential candidate.
In a statement today (Aug. 16), he said that relevant speculations made on him by politicians and media reports are untrue.
The statement further notes that the internal turmoil of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is still ongoing and a court ruling is yet to be given as to who is the Chairman of the party.
Since it is the party chairman who is vested with complete powers according to the SLFP constitution, decisions taken and appointments made by any other official will have no validity, he reminds.
