Antibiotics have been given to the inmates and officials of the Matara Prison, in the wake of a recent fever outbreak, the Department of Prisons state.
Meanwhile, News1st has reported that one of the four bio samples taken from several sick inmates of Matara prison, has been confirmed as brain fever.
This has been confirmed by the Borella Medical Research Institute, according to the Prison Health Director Dr. Hemantha Ranasinghe, it adds.
Only four out of the samples sent to the Medical Research Institute have been tested so far.
