The Election Commission announced the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary election which is to be helf on November 14.
The maximum expenditure limit differs depending on the district.
Accordingly, the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates in the Colombo District (highest) is Rs. 5,750,000 while for parties it is Rs. 79,493,756 and for national list candidates Rs. 34,694.
Further, maximum expenditure limit allowed for candidates in Vanni District (lowest) is Rs. 1,673,243, for parties Rs. 9,91,3,964 and for national list candidates Rs. 4,327.
