There is a shortage of antibiotics needed by both inpatients and outpatients at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, hospital sources said.

They said that more than 1,000 patients visit the hospital daily to receive treatment from the Outpatient Department (OPD) and there are no paper covers to put medicines in when releasing them to the patients.

A notice has also been posted at the hospital saying that there are no paper covers for dispensing medicine.

Nearly 1,500 patients are undergoing inpatient treatment and it was reported that there is a shortage of paper tapes required for obtaining their E.C.G. test data as well.
