6 jumbos dead after ‘Meenagaya’ collides with herd

The Batticaloa-Colombo train, ‘Meenagaya’, collided with a herd of elephants at Gal Oya, resulting in the tragic death of six elephants, according to Sri Lanka Railways. 

The collision also caused the train to derail, disrupting services on the line.
