The appointment of new members to 10 independent commissions will be done within this month, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said.
He said the preliminary work is being completed at the moment.
The Constitutional Council has met and discussed this on several occasions.
The number of applications received by the Constitutional Council to be appointed as members of independent commissions is over 1,600.
