Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara says that the government will take steps to provide two acres of land to all migrant workers in the agro-industrial sector, upon their return to Sri Lanka.
This programme, conducted with the Ministry of Lands, is done with the objective of converting these migrant workers into agri entrepreneurs.
The minister said this while attending a program held yesterday (Jan. 01) at the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.
He pointed out that this programme will enable these individuals to directly apply the knowledge they have gained during their overseas work experience to the local agri industry.
This plan has received the complete approval and backing of the President and discussions have already been held with the Ministry of Lands.
