Minister of Power and Energy – Kanchana Wijesekara has urged public not to panic over claims of fuel shortages as the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Lanka IOC have ‘adequate stocks’.
Tweeting, he has said that fuel shortages are due to non placement of orders by Fuel Station owners anticipating a fuel price reduction.
Noting that dealers are required to maintain a minimum stock of 50%, the minister further states that he has directed the CPC to review & suspend the license of fuel stations that have not done so.
