The water tariffs are expected to be slashed in line with the proposed electricity tariff reduction – Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development – Jeevan Thondaman has said.
“One of the main factors required for water treatment is electricity. So, if the electricity tariffs are reduced, we will definitely reduce the water tariffs as well”, he has said.
Speaking at an event in Kandy today (11), Thondaman further said that the government is making arrangements to provide the maximum possible concessions to the general public.
He also noted that the pricing formula would be introduced for water tariffs, to not exert more pressure on people, but to provide relief.
