Ministry officials forced to sign docs by HRCSL – Kanchana

Minister of Energy – Kanchana Wijesekara has Tweeted that officials who took part in discussion with the Human Rights Commission of SriLanka (HRCSL) have been pressurised to sign documents by two members of the HRCSL, threatening them with jail sentences.

“The officials have already consulted legal opinions on the steps to be taken against the HRC members & has submitted in writing on the events that had taken place. I have informed HE The President, yesterday morning & will inform the Constitutional council in writing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has written to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) informing it to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the 2022 Advanced Level Examination.

In his letter, the PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake referred to a request of the approval made by the General Manager of the CEB from the PUCSL for power interruptions today (27) and to a letter dated yesterday (26).
