Today (Dec. 26) marks the “National Safety Day,” which commemorates all those who lost their lives to the devastating 2004 tsunami and various other disasters that occurred in the country.
Since 2004, December 26th has been commemorated every year and in 2012, this day has been declared as National Safety Day by the Sri Lankan government.
This year’s commemoration event is held from 9.00am – 11.30 am today at the Defence Ministry’s Disaster Management Division.
