The Non-Communicable Diseases Unit of the Ministry of Health (MoH) has urged the public to take extra precautions to prevent accidents during the festive season.
According to Consultant Community Physician – Dr. Samitha Sirithunga, around 28,000 and 30,000 individuals are hospitalized annually due to accidents during the New Year week with 75 – 100 lives being lost.
