A Buddhist monk has been shot dead with a T-56 firearm at the Malwathuhiripitiya Kahatana Temple in the Gampaha District.
Police said four unknown persons in a car had reportedly opened fire at the monk and fled.
The monk, Ven. Kalapaluwawe Dhammarathana Thero, had died after being admitted to the hospital.
