MONLAR meets Palestinian ambassador

A delegation from the Movement for land and agriculture reform (MONLAR) met with Palestinian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr. Zuhair MH Syed yesterday (Nov. 23) to express their opposition to the Sri Lankan government’s decision to send 10,000 agricultural workers to Israel.

The meeting was held at the invitation of the Palestinian Embassy. 

It was stated here that the MONLAR organization, which stands for farmers’ land rights, strongly condemns the employment of workers in Sri Lanka on land stolen from Palestinian farmers.

The delegation also expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

MONLAR President M. K. Jayatissa, Chintaka Rajapakse, Shamila Ratnasooriya, Renuka Liyandeniya, Anuka de Silva, and J. H. Munidasa (Chairman of the Hambantota District Farmers Organization) represented the movement at the meeting.
