The Met Department says that the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western provinces and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts should expect rain today.
It is predicted that some areas in the Sabaragamuwa province and the Nuwara Eliya district will receive over 50mm of rain.
Strong winds between 40-50 kmph too are predicted in the Western slopes of the Central hills, Northern and North Central and North Western provinces.
The seas from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai, Mannar to Puttalam and Hambanthota via Pottuvil to Batticaloa will be rough and the Met department warns fishermen and naval personnel to be vigilant.
