A mother of four children has died after falling from a jackfruit tree while attempting to pick a jackfruit for her family’s meal.
The victim is one Shanthi Kumari, a resident of the Naranwita area in Gampola.
She has four daughters, with three of them attending school.
Her husband is a labourer and unable to meet ends with his salary alone, especially with having to purchase school equipment for the daughters, she has sought jackfruit to supplement many family meals.
She fell from the tree on Feb. 10 while trying to pick a jackfruit for the family lunch and succumbed to her injuries 05 days later in hospital.
