According to Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa, the two SLPP members had clashed during the ruling party meeting held on Monday.

The MP was initially admitted to the ICU of the Army Hospital before being changed to a ward after surgery.

Gunathilaka Rajapaksha’s son is also reported to have filed a complaint with the Colombo-Fort Police claiming that Mahindananda Aluthgamage had assaulted his father during the party meeting.
