Epidemiologist Dr. Chinthana Perera told said yesterday (20) that the Medical Research Institute (MRI) has the facilities to carry out tests on Monkeypox.
He stated that the checking is being carried out regularly in the country regarding the arrival of the Monkeypox disease in Sri Lanka and if any patient is reported, the Health Ministry has the required treatment facilities.
He said further that they are constantly checking how patients affected by this disease are reported in the Asian region and are engaged in investigation regarding the world situation as well.
The World Health Organization recently declared a global emergency regarding Monkeypox and issued a set of guidelines from the World Health Organization on this virus.
