Namal hints at president as prospective presidential candidate for SLPP

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa hinted yesterday that President Ranil Wickremesinghe is being considered as a prospective presidential candidate for their party. 

Speaking to reporters after an event, Rajapaksa asserted that President Wickremesinghe is already aligned with the SLPP, suggesting his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election.

“Anyway, the President is already with us. He is among the prospective presidential candidates,” stated Namal Rajapaksa, alluding to President Wickremesinghe’s potential candidacy under the SLPP banner.

This revelation comes as a noteworthy development in the political landscape, as the SLPP gears up for the presidential election anticipated to take place by September this year.
