The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa is set to officially launch his campaign with an inaugural rally today (21) in Anuradhapura.
The event, which will begin at 2 pm in the Kadapanaha area, is expected to draw a large crowd, including key SLPP figures like former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, as well as representatives from various political groups and trade unions.
Namal Rajapaksa, the youngest candidate in the 2024 presidential race, is anticipated to receive widespread support from political parties, trade unions, and civil organizations.
An SLPP spokesperson noted that Namal has instructed party organizers not to bring in crowds from other provinces to ensure the event is a true reflection of local support.
Despite some factions within the SLPP aligning with the current President, grassroots support is said to remain strong for Namal and the SLPP.
