Standup comedian Nathasha Edirisooriya has been released by the Colombo High Court on a personal bail of Rs. 100,000/- on Wednesday (05).
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing on behalf of the Attorney General’s Department raised no objections to Nathasha being granted bail.
However, when Edirisooriya was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court earlier today, she was ordered to be further remanded until July 12.

Nathasha & Saddharathana Thero remanded again
Stand-up comedian Nathasha Edirisooriya, who was arrested for her recent remarks related to Buddhism, has been further remanded until July 12.
She was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court earlier today (July 05).
Meanwhile, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has also ordered to further remand Ven. Rajangane Saddharathana Thero until July 12.
The Thera was arrested on May 28 by the CID over making statements said to be detrimental to the religious harmony in the country.
