The Sri Lanka Navy seized four Indian poaching trawlers and arrested 22 Indian fishermen for fishing in Sri Lankan waters last night, the Navy said.
The Indian trawlers were seized in Sri Lankan waters northwest of Delft Island, Jaffna during a special operation conducted by the Navy to chase away a cluster of Indian poaching trawlers.
The seized trawlers together with 22 Indian fishermen were brought to the Kankesanthurai Harbour and they will be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal proceedings.
