‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ for families of the disappeared

The Office of the Missing Persons has suggested to the government to provide loan facilities to the families of the disappeared through ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ to improve their livelihood standards by providing assistance to develop their self-employment opportunities.

In a report presented to the government on September 05, the OMP suggested that the loan facilities be provided for housing development, educational advancement and to improve their employment and self employment opportunities, enabling them to overcome their financial obstacles and improve their mental, social and economic standards.

The OMP also pointed out the importance of ensuring that such disappearances and atrocities never recur and urged the government to implement policies that would enable the families of the disappeared to live without fear.
