KKS development to be entrusted to India

Jaffna, Kankesanthurai harbor development project, at a cost of US $ 45.27 million, will be conducted by India and the cabinet of ministers has granted their approval to proceed with the development activities of the Kankesanthurai Harbor, and the vicinity.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister Sagala Ratnayake will also be undertaking an inspection tour at the Kankesanthurai Harbor today (14).

The Kankesanthurai port is currently being operated by the Navy and the new project is to be completed in three years. The authorities aim to commence container handling operations as well following the commissioning of the new development activities.
