Meanwhile, Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa is scheduled to appear before the Presidential Commission police unit at 9.30 am today (20) to give a statement. The Commission had summoned him to report to the police unit today.

The investigation is regarding the awarding of jobs at the National Housing Development Authority without the approval of the Management Services Department of the Treasury.

Notice has also been issued to the National Housing Development Authority Chairman Sagara Palansooriya to appear before the Commission to give a statement.

The National Independent Employees Union of the National Housing Development Authority had lodged a complaint with the Presidential Commission regarding the recruitment of ‘Assistant Managers’ to the Housing Development Authority in an irregular manner.

Accordingly, the Commission had taken up this complaint for investigation and as the Minister in charge of the NHDA, Minister Sajith Premadasa has been summoned to give a statement.

The Union alleges that 95% of those recruited to the posts of ‘Assistant Managers’ are residents of the Hambantota District.
